Cr Sharon Gibson

Cr Sharon Gibson is the Mayor of Latrobe City Council and the longest serving representative for the West Ward. First elected in 2008, she has been re-elected in four subsequent elections, most recently in November 2024. As of November 2025, she is serving her third term as Mayor, an achievement that sits alongside her five previous terms as Deputy Mayor.

With a professional background as a trained Grief Counsellor, Cr Gibson has dedicated much of her career to support services, including running survivor groups and working within the court system. Her diverse experience also spans the finance, accounting and management sectors. A committed advocate for education and regional industry, she is the former President of the Lowanna College Council and an executive board member for Timber Towns Victoria and the National Timber Councils Association.

In addition to her council duties, Cr Gibson serves on several Municipal Association of Victoria committees and represents the region through Regional Cities Victoria. She remains a prominent local voice through her Gippsland FM radio program, “The Valley Talks,” where she interviews community guests on a broad range of local issues.
