Cr Tom Crook

Mayor, East Gippsland Shire Council

Cr Tom Crook has lived and worked in East Gippsland most of his life and currently lives in Eagle Point.

Cr Crook is Mayor for 2023-24

Tom has a science degree, runs a small business, and previously worked in renewable energy. He now works in tourism and land management for both government and the community sector.

Tom takes an evidence-based approach to decision-making and is intently interested in working with everyone to recover and renew after the fires and Covid-19, throughout his term in Council.

"I strongly believe the pathway to a prosperous and sustainable future is best realised by working together. I am especially interested in creating jobs and a sustainable future through renewable energy, land management and tourism. I am excited by the potential opportunities these present for our shire to lead by example," Cr Crook said.

Tom believes our region is blessed with outstanding natural beauty, the only place on mainland Australia where forests connect the coast to the Alps.

It also has a vast array of local knowledge which we can use, working together, for a better East Gippsland.

Cr Crook has attended University of Tasmania, Monash University and University of New England.
