New faces on the board

We’re looking forward to welcoming a number of new faces around the table at our next meeting in the new year as our councils elect new leadership teams.

At Wellington, Cr Cindy Madeley and Cr Liz Foat were elected as Mayor and Deputy Mayor.

Cr Kate Wilson is the new mayor at Baw Baw Shire, with Cr Suzanne Allen as her deputy. The shire has also named Mick Cummins as its acting CEO as Tilla Buden takes leave for health reasons.

Cr Sharon Gibson is the new Mayor at Latrobe City with Cr Dale Harriman as Deputy Mayor.

Cr Jodie Ashworth and Cr Tom Crook have been appointed Mayor and Deputy Mayor, respectively, at East Gippsland Shire Council.

Our Chair Cr Nathan Hersey was elected Mayor at South Gippsland Shire Council, with Cr Brad Snell as Deputy Mayor.

At Bass Coast, Cr Rochelle Halstead and Cr Brett Tessari will continue in their roles as Mayor and Deputy Mayor.

To all the outgoing Mayors and Deputy Mayors, including Cr Scott Rossetti from Wellington, Cr Danny Goss and Cr Tricia Jones from Baw Baw, Cr John White and Sonia Buckley at East Gippsland, and Cr John Schelling and Cr Sarah Gilligan at South Gippsland, we congratulate you on all that you have achieved as council leaders for your communities and for our region.

We’ve also welcomed Simon Johnson to the One Gippsland team after he assumed the role of CEO at Food and Fibre Gippsland. He took over from Ben Gebert, who resigned to pursue a new opportunity.

We said goodbye to Daniel Miller, who stepped down from his position as CEO at GLaWAC earlier this year after eight years and welcomed Charee Smith as the interim CEO.

And it was also farewell to Laura McPherson, who left TAFE Gippsland in September to take up a new role as CEO at Bendigo Kangan Institute. We look forward to welcoming James Montgomery when he begins in the CEO role in the new year.

Thank-you to everyone who’s been part of the One Gippsland team. We wish you all well with whatever lies ahead for you.
